The 111 number is free of charge from landlines. It is also free of charge from mobiles but you will need at least 1p credit on your mobile phone.

If you are 80 YEARS OR OVER and you have not yet been contacted by the medical centre to invite you for a COVID vaccine, please could you contact the surgery to book an appointment or let us know if you do not want the vaccine and update us with your contact details.        We have called all those aged 80 or over that we could get hold of by telephone and are sending letters to the rest but wanted to use all means available to ensure that no over 80 year olds get missed due to eg incorrect contact information held on our records. The only patients left are those who are recorded as housebound and we would ask that anybody who may be recorded as such but who could actually get into the practice for their vaccinations please does so as this will enable to vaccinate more people more quickly. For the next age groups we are starting to use a new system which allows online booking using a unique code. We have sent texts and will be sending out more texts to those in the 75-79 age group, then the 70-74 and those who have been classed as clinically extremely vulnerable. We will be sending letters or calling anyone who does not respond or who does not have a mobile number recorded on our system. Unfortunately the first group of texts did not work as it should have so we will be resending these. Thank you for your patience and support.                     

COVID -19 - Information for Patients



Okehampton Medical Centre would like to thank you for your patience through the COVID pandemic. We are aware that some of our services have been on hold since the beginning of April, this has been for safety of patients and staff and we have been guided by national guidelines.
If you are concerned and have not been invited in for a medication review, which involves a blood test and phone follow up with our senior nurse team, then please contact us to arrange this. Our patient service advisors will guide you on which appointments you will need.
Our asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease reviews are being done remotely through questionnaires and follow up phone calls. All other reviews will need a blood test and sometimes urine sample with a follow up call from the nurse/pharmacist team to discuss results and medication changes if needed.

Our Dispensary team are here to help if you or somebody on your behalf is unable to come in to collect your medication from us. Please call us on 01837 52233 and press option 3 to speak to our Dispensary team to discuss delivery. Please note that they are only available to take calls between 2-5pm Monday-Friday. Alternatively you can send an email to repeatprescriptions.okehampton@nhs.net

Please allow at least 72 hours after ordering before collecting your medication from our Dispensary. With the current situation we are receiving a high number of orders so please ​bear with us. Stockpiling and hoarding may lead to some people going without essential medication therefore we are only able to dispense your medication at normal intervals as we are unable to order more than required. Our team will continue to do its best to supply your medications, so please help us to work together as a strong community by acting responsibly.

Cancelling Your Appointment

If you are unable or do not wish to attend your appointment please inform us as soon as possible.

We are currently receiving and making a high number of calls which may make it difficult to get through on the phone. You are able to cancel your appointment online via Patient Access.

You can also use Patient Partner, our automated telephone system by calling 01837 52233, selecting option 6 and following the instructions you will hear. You can also reply to appointment confirmation or reminder text messages if you receive them.
If you are unable to cancel your appointment using any of the methods above you can use the eConsult system via our website www.okehamptonmedicalcentre.co.uk to ask for clinical advice or submit an admin query stating the date and time of your appointment that you wish to cancel.

Please be aware that when calling the surgery there is a delay following the initial message before the options list begins. You may also hear some clicking noise in the background but please continue to hold, you have not been cut off. We apologise for any inconvenience.
