Admin Team at Okehampton Medical CentreOur Practice Manager has overall administrative responsibility for the practice staff, services, premises, dispensary and finances and will be happy to help you with any queries, comments or suggestions you may wish to make.
Patient Services ManagerRachael Palmer - Responsible for managing the practice's patient services team. Patient Services AdvisorsOur Patient Services Advisors are fully trained and are there to help you with appointment requests and specific enquiries about your care. Any information you can give them will be used to help direct you to the most appropriate service. Dispensing StaffOur Level 2 NVQ qualified dispensers are all happy to help with enquiries about your medication. If there are any problems with medication they can contact a doctor on your behalf.Medical SecretariesOur Medical Secretaries will type referral letters for the doctors and can also organise your referral through NHS e-Referrals if your doctor has requested it.Admin TeamOur admin team consists of scanners, coders and summarisers who manage incoming patient documents and summarising of new patient notes.FinanceThe team process finances of the surgery and will produce invoices for patients for non-NHS work completed by GPs.AuditThe audit team complete reports and compile statistics as well as monitoring recall dates for things such as smears, annual reviews and medication reviews.OTHER MEMBERS OF THE PRIMARY HEALTH CARE TEAMHealth VisitorsHealth visitors have a particular responsibility for all children under 5. They are registered nurses with extra training in health promotion in the community. As well as running regular clinics, they are happy to give advise on any aspect of health and welfare of children and babies. They can be contacted on their direct line, telephone number 0333 234 1904 on which there is an answer phone facility for when they are out of their offices. MidwivesThere is a team of midwives working in the community and in the Maternity Unit at the Okehampton Community Hospital and visiting new mothers until the baby is 10 - 14 days old. They can be contacted via the Community Hospital on 01837 658013 on which there is an answer phone facility for when they are out of their offices. Community NursesThere is a team of Community Nurses (District nurses) based in the Okehampton Community Hospital. They provide care to patients in their own homes. PhysiotherapistsThere is a full physiotherapy service at Okehampton Community Hospital. Appointments are made after consultation with your doctor Community Mental Health TeamThe practice has links with this team and people suffering with mental health problems may be referred to them for assessment, counselling and support. Depression and Anxiety Service (DAS)We have in-house DAS counsellors that provide a service for patients with long term conditions. Patients can also self refer by phoning 01392 675 630 or visiting their website. CounsellorsThe Medical Centre has independent counsellors that the doctors can refer patients to for a couple of sessions. These are offered at a reduce rate. Hospiscare NursesThese specially trained nurses are involved in the care of people with cancer and other terminal illnesses. They offer support and advice to patients and their relatives. Carers’ CarerThis is a support worker who is involved in helping people who have long term care of sick and dependent relatives and she can be contacted through Devon Carers on 03456 434 435, www.devoncarers.org.uk. |
