Background: Sedbergh School, Yorkshire. Dukes Grammer School, Northumberland. Guys Hospital, London. Worked in the UK, New Zealand and the Middle East prior to settling in Okehampton.

Interests: Fell walking, photography, history and golf.

Background: Trained at St Bartholomew Hospital London. Qualified 1996. Worked in Australia after house jobs. Came back to UK and moved to Devon. Spent a year working in Uganda 2002-3 at Mbarara University Medical School and also Hospice Mbarara in SW Uganda.

Interests: Not much time with 2 young twins! Gardening/ walking/cycling/playing

Background: Qualified from Bristol University in 2003. Worked predominantly in the South West since, apart from 6 months in Borneo as an Expedition Medical officer. Completed the Exeter vocational GP rotation in February 2008.

Currently Okehampton Clinical Assistant for 2 days per week plus GP Locum work in South and Mid Devon. Married with 1 toddler.

Interests: Road cycling, skiing, walking, eating out.

Dr Emma Chapman

Background: Trained at Royal Free Hospital, London and qualified in 2000. Worked in Perth, Australia for 6 months then travelled with my husband for 6 months: Australia, Singapore, Malaysia and India. Did most of my GP training in Dorset at Dorchester and Poole then completed my registrar training in Devon. We moved here in 2005 and love it. We have two young boys and live on a smallholding.

Interests: My veg patch and garden, playing/running after the kids and dog, walking and reading.


If your doctor is away, the partners will provide cover, this may involve seeing another partner, the associate doctor or a locum.

Medical Students
The practice has an attachment to the Bristol Medical School, the Peninsular Medical School and occasionally a medical student may be present during your consultation with your doctor. You will always be advised when this is happening. If you would prefer to see the doctor alone please feel free to say so and we will understand.
